How To Host The Perfect (Stress-Free) Brunch

January 15, 2017

I don't know about you, but one of my all-time favorite things to do during the weekend is to have brunch with my gals. We usually go out somewhere but I this last Sunday, I wanted to try something different. I invited my friends over to my little apartment to do brunch at mine. Given my limited time and energy, I was determined to keep things simple and easy.

Here are my tips on how to throw the perfect (stress-free) brunch for you and your friends.

1. You don't have to do everything.

Since you're hosting, it's given that you have to clean your place, set the table, and prep the food. So why not let other people help where they can. If your friend is literally the best baker in the world, let them bring the dessert. If someone is huge on juicing, ask them to bring some fresh juice. Teamwork makes the dream work.

2. Keep the menu simple.

Cook one item on the stove and that's it. Scrambling eggs and frying bacon, all the while you chat with your guests, will turn into a disaster. If there are food items you can cook ahead of time, do it. That's one less thing you have to worry about.

3. Make a cocktail bar.

This is a REALLY easy touch and it means that you won't be locked down at the bar making drinks. People can just make their own mimosas or bloody marys.

4. Go easy on the decorations.

Remember, your friends are coming over to hang with YOU. No need to go over the top with the flower arrangements and napkin art.

5. Have fun!

Get whatever you can done in advance so you can actually enjoy yourself instead of running around extinguishing all kinds of fires. And definitely say yes if someone offers to help with the dishes later...
